Trade winds in oz are SE on the East coast, during most of the year, but strongest during winter, or great for going up, but a pain for going down, as they parallel the coast.

Yep, same direction as the water goes down the plug hole down under, as well as our cyclones, (Hurricanes, Typhoons in the Norther Hemisphere) go the other way as well.....

Most of the cruising is done up the East Coast to the Great Barrier Reef from the larger population centres in the South, (Brisbane, Sydney & Melbourne) and a lot fewer around the Kimberley region at the top

I've been intrigued by the Seawind 1160 as well. It's a fantastic looking boat. That said I'm a little concerned about the super tight webbing used for the trampoline. Should the bow ever plow into the seas (admitedly not super likely) I think you would want a fabric that is a little less impermeable... to prevent a "shovel effect."
