Re: Sail GP

It's still a while off, so forecasts are pretty iffy, but Windy is showing some pretty solid breeze for the 15th and 16th.

I like the idea that they are just too fast to give way to. They are on starboard and from far away they pass close to your stern. That is a pretty full on speed differential.

I will be down there on a kayak probably or just sitting on the shore in Friday and on shore on the Saturday. Looks like more wind for Saturday on Meteye.

cheers

Re: Sail GP

Today I asked one of the crew what wind angles they sail.

Upwind its 13' apparent. Downwind it's 19' !

They point higher downwind than just about any of us going upwind!

Re: Sail GP

SailGP racing takes place in some of the world’s most iconic city waterfronts, where athletes from rival nations will race head-to-head on the newly redefined F50 wingsailed catamarans, which fly above the water on wave-piercing hydrofoils at speeds of over 50 knots (60 mph).

Grand Prix?

"... sailing identical wingsailed F50 catamarans across five grand prix style events..."

Re: Sail GP

The first event in Sydney saw light winds and was pretty much dominated by the Australian team.

The recent San Francisco event saw much better breeze and some really excellent, close, fast racing.
