That Dragonfly is probably the best sailboat out there with good stability and moderate size and sail area, usually trimarans can handle a lot more sail area but that brings capsizing risk with high span masts and only two
sails reefs. Otherwise this
trimaran brings too much
cockpit and in the case of reverse pitchpolling created by stern weight after a lateral capsizing momentum, the pointy amas sterns will dig the boat backwards and when the
cockpit gets wetted will drag the boat to total
capsize
Anybody can built a same
trimaran with a donated 30s 1980s abandoned
monohull. Only its needed to remove the
keel and additional reinforcements that add weight and and add two amas made with strip planking and skin on frame and for example two discarded light poles and the
mast for akas outriggers that can be bent and added
fabric on frame wing shape
The main
hull can be reshaped rather to Grainger style trimaran with
plywood cross section CNC cuts and adding and external and
interior veneer wooden touch with crude tung
oil, just like Barracuda trimaran
The boat will weigh almost the same and added short span free standing rig schooner with light masts that will reduce
capsize risk and release
wind gusts and depower instantly
