Prout catamarans: not fit for the Mediterranean?

I have currently a Prout Sirocco 26 which I am selling in Poole (Dorset) because I need a more room for the main bed as well as in the cockpit.

I found a quite well maintained Quest 31, bigger and wider. When my daughter visited it, she was quite surprised to see that the cockpit was still very small (actually as small as on the Sirocco!) and thus not fitting for a life "outside". We are used to spending much of our time in the cockpit under a bimini.

How do people who use Prout catamarans in Southern Europe live on their boat?
Where do they eat when they are 4 or more?
Something is definitely escaping me here.

Best regards,

François

Re: Prout catamarans: not fit for the Mediterranean?

Design problem. When going from 26' to 31', the critical gain is in the cabin with things like that bed. The designer is still thinking the same number of people (approx 2) living more comfortably, not more perole. I think cockpit size is farther down the priority list.

That said, take a look at the Catalina 275.

Re: Prout catamarans: not fit for the Mediterranean?

Prouts were designed and built on the east coast of England, for English weather, living inside and despite their ability to circumnavigate retain that indoors living philosophy.

For the same price range you could pick up an Edel 35 that was designed for outside Mediterranean living. The differences are plain to see.
