Re: New Trimaran build

Thats the advantage I have
I dont need to modify anything.
I started with a blanc canvas (the plans) and decided to not install the interior as the plans stipulate.
Some things, like main bulkheads, daggerboard box etc I cant remove.
But everything else I wont install and instead design things for myself.

When I look @ people renovating or modifying an existing boat I often think "Oh frack no".
I like to think my way is easier
The future will tell...

Re: New Trimaran build

Lol that's my thinking, I'm looking at a Horstman design to build it out like I want it because I'm not about to get involved in one of these never ending refits :P

Re: New Trimaran build

One of the things that put me off from refitting/renovating/... was, among other things, the electricity.
It seems thats allways a mess.
And on a new build u know where and what everything is...

Re: New Trimaran build

Nice design Horstman. What size are u looking @?

Advantage for me with the Avalon is that its foldable.
Which makes for cheaper birthing and easier transport should it ever be required.
Scarab also has a 32 ft foldable tri btw

Re: New Trimaran build

I wholeheartedly agree that the electrical is the worst thing about renovating, even on my Ranger 22 when updating the nav lights it was a nightmare. The one I'm looking at is the Tristar 35, I like the 35' size and the berths being out on the wings with ports to give a little more light, but most importantly it frees up space in the main hull. That is one of the main issues I have with monohulls is that you have to have everything crammed into one hull and the tris that keep that design just didn't appeal to me as much as one that utilizes the wings for the berths and thus freeing up interior space for other stuff and a lot of them just seemed like glorified monos. unfortunately it does mean that it is either in the water or it's not, there's no putting it on a trailer and taking it across the country or even home when I'm not cruising, but as with all things boats its a trade off between portability and space but its one I'm willing to make.

Re: New Trimaran build

Looks good! are you using a router to round off the edges and cut the channel?

Re: New Trimaran build

Yes I am.
Only reason @ present I bought the router for.
Hopefully I find some more use for it or it'll turn out to be an expensive piece of kitt 😄

[emoji23] I'm sure there'll be something else for the boat for it.

Hi ForSeTi,
Just to inform you that you're not the only Scarab32 builder.

If you want to talk, I'm happy to discuss the subject
