I've always liked multihull
vessels, particularly trimarans. I was going to build an 18 day sailor to start out on. I already build small vessels so I don't think it will strain my knowledge much. My ultimate goal is in 13 years to be on the ocean in a 40-45 foot trimaran
. Will this 18' give me a good idea of what to expect if the 40' is build mainly as a larger version of it? Are 40-45' trimarans really able to be efficiently single
handed with the use of an auto pilot? Also I have heard the draft
on a tri is about 1-2 feet with the dagger boards
up, is this true? Are there any specifications I should consider while designing the boat
that I may not think of going from row boats and canoes to a sailing vessel? And the last question is: Is a 40-45' tri big enough to truly enjoy full time cruising?
