Re: New Seawind Model - Announcement July 10

The polars suggest the performance is less than I might have hoped, particularly upwind. The 1600 looks like a banshee based on the polars, but the 1370 doesn't seem to follow suit. For example, in 10kts of breeze, at 60 degrees TWA, the boatspeed is 4.5 kts based on the polars. For reference, a Leopard 45 would be 6.3 kts under the same conditions.. the 1600 would be about 9 kts, similar to an Outremer 4X. Am I missing something?

Re: New Seawind Model - Announcement July 10

I've been impressed by Seawind - both the boats and the company. After chartering FPs, Lagoons, and others, I sailed a 1260 last year and was very impressed with the quality of construction and the sailing performance. Lot of thought went into the design. But, it was a little too small for what we wanted. Storage was limited, IMO. But this 1370 hits the target for us. Put a deposit down this morning on Hull #9.

Im guessing its 13.7 metres. given its called the 1370. I dont know what that is in prehistoric measurements

Looks favourable at 3 tonne lighter than equivalent FP, 4 tonne lighter than equivalent lagoon, and 4 tonne lighter than equivalent leopard.

Looks nice, a blend of favourable attributes from both the 1600 and the 1260. It addresses concerns some people have about the galley down and perceived lack of storage on the 1260. However, at about 1.1m longer it adds 30% more unladen weight and a lot of width/height in the hulls. The performance stats will be interesting. By going galley up and adding the larger forward facing nav station both the salon seating and galley look to be smaller than the 1260 but the cabins larger and more spacious, and there is more storage in places. I think the folks on Ruby Rose will be pleased.
It’s a very clever offering and as some have said fills a hole nicely for Seawind. Congrats to them.

That is quite a jump from the 430k starting price of the 1260 und only 100k less then the 1600.
Okay, it's completely new construction and they talked about using carbon fibre, but still...

I don't get the pricing as starting price is only 40k less than the new Balance 442 which in my opinion has much better helm (from what I can see from mock ups) and as pointed out very close to the 1600.

A bit surprised by the [higher than expected] price, although it looks like a fantastic boat indeed!! If they moved manufacture to Vietnam to save on costs, I wonder what this would cost elsewhere...

I vaguely remember Ruby Rose mentioning something in this range is out of their price range, but I guess they have something arranged with Seawind? Good on them!

Perhaps if my portfolio performs well... one can only dream...

Yeah, out of my range.
Very nice option for folks in the market, though!

Re: New Seawind Model - Announcement July 10

sheesh....for a 45' boat....but these cats command premium prices, that is for sure, even around here in the USA, a used cat will be north of the average man's pocketbook...and...we have sales tax to deal with on top of the boat price...and if it's new, usually also a " commission" fee....and the new owner will likely spend a few more thou' to get this and that, could be a million dollar investment, by the time the dust settles, and then the thing will sit at a marina and get used twice a year.....
