New Seawind 1170
Looks like the 1370. At 40’ they might retire the 1160, 1190, and 1260.

Re: New Seawind 1170
Hello fellow members!
I'm excited to join this community and contribute to the discussion on the recently announced Seawind 1170. I came across an informative video that provides an excellent overview of the new boat. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/JsN0n4FxRlk?t=545 (starting at 9:05).
I wanted to inquire about the performance of the Seawind 1170 in comparison to the Seawind 1260, considering its higher displacement, smaller sail area, and shorter length. With its increased headroom, the 1170 might have a larger wet surface area and more drag. How do you think its performance will measure up to the 1260, given the similar price range?

Re: New Seawind 1170
Very nice scaling job. Better proportions than the other scale down models. HH44 for example doesn look as natural as it's bigger brothers.
What's also amazing is the cabins have much more headroom even compared to the 1260. Granted the people in the youtube video are relatively short.
Looks like a boat a lot of people are going to be interested in.

Re: New Seawind 1170
Hope they reconsider the outboard option in the future (maybe after they drop the 1160).

The 1160 and 1190 have outboard options as I believe the new 1170 does as well.

Negative ghostrider on the 1170 & outboards. I talked to Richard and it's not an option.

Strange as Tulas Endless Summer had a video discussing their option of inboards or outboards on their new Seawind.

Maybe this was before Seawind decided to bring out the new 1170? But I don’t think so

I think that was before they switched from 1160 to 1170.

Re: New Seawind 1170
$510,000 USD base. 600k well equiped. Photo of it sailing. Looks like less Bridge Deck clearance than 1260? Makes sense, they sacrificed that for the headroom above the bed. Also heavier.

Happy to see Tula's finally get their boat. It's been a long time coming.

Re: New Seawind 1170
The email I just got says Hull #1and 2 were built in Vietnam but hull #3 is being built in Turkey. Is this accurate or a typo? And are they going to build the 1170 in 2 locations or shift it all to Turkey?
Edit: That email is from Seawind and they say that they are going to shift it all to Turkey (I think). It makes sense because Vietnam is inconvenient for the majority of buyers.

I thought Australia was one of the largest market for seawind, a lot of 1160 and 1260s for charter in QLD. For Australians we can also enjoy the the duty free agreement with Vietnam. Turkey is a weird move. I suppose shipping to the Atlantic coast of USA is a bit cheaper, that's probably the second largest market? Unless there is a catamaran boom in europe?

Re: New Seawind 1170
I think Oz was the largest market was because the boats were made there and it was too expensive to get them to Europe or the east coast of the US. Vietnam is still close to there but I think SW wants a foot in the worldwide market.
