Sorry if my text speak offended you (I am too old for this s**t,).

I didn't take the time to type "I have no answer for that," in response to somebody suggesting the Lagoon boats are of better quality than most anything else out there.

A fully equipped Lagoon is almost as much as an Majestic 53. I would spend that extra on quality, rather than a Lagoon. But that's me,

No problem, but this abbreviations just drive me sometimes crazy, the kids use them on whatsapp and wherever, they just type the first letters or even symbols, digits, crippled misspelled words etc. and think, someone can decode their initial thoughts.

I have a nephew, once I took one of his chat responses he sent me 2 years ago - out of context - and asked him to tell me what this was about and if he can tell me what the letter salad means. He could not decode it himself anymore before reading the whole thread.

There are some abbreviations, that are well known and established, but I never read this one before...

by the way, Lagoons are not that bad...

I hope the quality of the Majestic has greatly improved since they produced the first few hulls.

My daughter sends me so much of that I've picked up her bad habits!

We actually have the Lagoon 40 and 42($$$$) on our list but the choices for interior colors don't thrill the Admiral. My reaction was to: Lagoon is probably the best you can buy today. Really?? I love our C36, and she hauls ass, but I'd never try to convince anybody that the Corsair is the best money can buy. I consider the "best" to be whatever you can afford and makes you smile every time you see her! That being said, Voyage, Antares, Catana, Nautitech, Outremer.......(nothing I can afford unless it's used though!)

ok let me try to rephrase: if you are looking for a new catamaran, comfort is your priority, but you are on budget then nothing beats a Lagoon. e.g. the new L46 will probably come out full option less than 600kEUR ex. tax., I don't know any other brand that can provide that much boat for that price. Hence my remark to Zarih that he can hardly blame the manufacturer for "plastic feels" if he doesn't want to or cannot pay himself a Gunboat.

Which fully equiped Lagoon ? 380 or Seventy 7 ? Honestly if you like the Majestic style you should go for it. I have no idea what they cost and I would not know what to use as a comparison.

Re: New Excess Catamaran Brand

Compare sqFt prices, L400 has the size of a FP Astrea 42 , The L40 is around the FP Lucia - slightly bigger and comparable to the L39, The Outremar 5x is longer (performance), but much smaller, so compares to L450.

In general older Lagoons were beamier and offer more living space than larger production cats. The L420 was price wise as expensive as the FP Lucia 40 around 2 years ago, the 39 was inside more spacious then the Lucia.

That makes perfect sense, and in my research there's no doubt that space for space, the Lagoon is easier on the pocketbook. If I could get us both past that mast step post in the salon, and her dislike of the color, the 42 would be great for us, and possibly even affordable for us!

Isn't the L400 the same as the L40?

Re: New Excess Catamaran Brand

Just by numbers, i would say that the Fair Lagoon comparison to a whateverbrand53 would be a Lagoon52

No, the L400 / L400S2 are "real" 40ft catamarans, the new L40 is much smaller.

L400: LOA: 11.97m - 39ft 3in, BEAM 7.25m 23ft 9in (86.78m or 934.12 ft)
L40: LOA: 11.74m 38ft 6in, BEAM 6.76m 22ft 2in (79,36m or 854.24 ft)
L39: LOA: 11.74m, BEAM 6.79m

so she is 50cm smaller and 30cm shorter (1ft in length / 1.5ft in width)

That is a lot of area ( difference 70ft / 7.5m).

It feels inside like the Lagoon 39, in fact she is 3cm smaller in width than the L39, it is the same hull.
I was really disappointed when I visit her the first time.

I don't like Lagoons for a number of reasons but do you have any fact or evidence to believe that they "feel plastic and badly made " ?
Or just a feeling which is also fine.

Cheers

Learning something every day! I always thought the addition of the 0 at the end of "any boat"40 meant that it was built for charter, and was just a stripped down version of the 40. Thanks for that!

No the charter-0 are a specialty of the Robertson & Caine Leopard product range, the charter versions are branded Moorings etc, and have the extension digit. The european production catamarans never adopted such a scheme.

Lagoon in particular has had between around 2000 and 2016 three digit numbers related to the LOA (380, 400, 420, 421, 440, 450, 620...) and the S2 appendix for face lifts mainly by different furniture. (except the 420 succeeded by the 421 by removing the hybrid propulsion and some bimini changes), btw S stands for sport bridge, F for flybridge.

There are always owners versions and charter versions with more berths / heads available with the same number. From around 2016 they chose to remove the last digit to differentiate the newer models, also introduce the stepped back mast with smaller main sail and self-tacking jib instead of a genoa.

This are now the new models 39, 42, 40, 45, 46, 50, 52...
