Re: New Alpha 42 to be Built in the US

Yeah. I talked to Gregor last night and he said that they even signed Alpha hull Nr. 6 to an ex Olympic sailor.

For anyone interested: there is a cool Alpha 42 Build Blog on the Aeroyacht.com website.

Re: New Alpha 42 to be Built in the US

Gregor has been quoted as saying the first Alpha 42 will be ready "December". After looking at the build blog I would say we won't see the first one until mid to late 2013. Boo.

Congrats! Do you mind sharing the delivery date for your Hull?

Can you speak to the pricing?
The financing page of the website says, "Based on a 350,000 $ base price..."
The Specs list features as “SAIL AWAY” Standard Specifications & Inventory

Can you tell us if $350K actually gets you the “SAIL AWAY” as spec'd?

One other random question: how roomy are the engine rooms?

Thanks - Rusty

I'm afraid to say the price has gone up. Yachtworld used to show $350k but now shows $395k: 2013 Aeroyacht Alpha 42 dynamic cruising catamaran Sail Boat For Sale -

I too would like to know from those who have ordered what the options list looks like. This should be posted. We can easily get a price list with options from other brands.

Re: New Alpha 42 to be Built in the US

No doubt the initial price was almost too good to be true and designed to get enough orders to produce molds and get underway.

The new pricing sounds more sustanable if negative for potentual buyers and is not surprising.

Re: New Alpha 42 to be Built in the US

My friend who lives in NY and has been in contact with Gregor just got an invitation that the first hull (not mold) will be pulled over the weekend. ALPHA Yachts will hold a small celebration on Friday Jan 25th at 6 pm at the yard. I can't be there but Pete who lives on Long Island said he might go.

I sent Gregor an email and price lists are available. Full sail away is 395$K in water NY. Not bad for a boat that looks like it should cost twice.

That's great to hear! So let's see that price list so we can see what "full sail away" means. Thanks!

I was at the Alpha 42 assembly building yesterday. Things are really looking good.

The latest pictures appear on the Alpha 42 build blog.

Boat #7 has been sold.

They don't make a 42 anymore.
Before you guys nitpick me to death just be aware that I know this is a bit like comparing apples to oranges but it's what we have for comparison. I was dropped on my head as a child and rode the special bus to school so don't pick on me. I am special and my mommie tells me so.
We don't blame you sandcrab we blame the system, haha but seriously this boat looks good and I was just about ready to pull the trigger on buying a leopard but I am going to call these guys and find out what it will cost for what I want, the thought of being able to go to NYC and pick up my boat bets a plane ticket to Cape Town.

Ardi,

I just showed up; I was on my way home. Gregor told me feel free to stop any time I wanted. Their facility is only about 1 1/2 miles from my home and just across the Patchogue River from where I keep my boat.

Re: New Alpha 42 to be Built in the US

I too want to see US builders give SA and France a good run, but can't help but think of Corsair and others that are building in Viet Nam and China because of the labor intensive process of boat building. What we do better than most is innovation, so if using our talents we can build here with innovation to keep the costs down, that would be great. If this cat is a success through design innovations that aren't coupled with manufacture innovations, then I predict at some later date the plugs will be shipped off to the Far East for the production.

Re: New Alpha 42 to be Built in the US

Two weeks ago we drove up to LI to see the first hull of our Alpha 42 #2 come out of the mold. Next hull will be ready in a week or so. Pretty impressive operation now with more very experienced staff and additional buildings. We're in the options selection stage. Some breath-taking numbers, but we keep reminding ourselves that any installation will be done with optimum access to spaces and best practices for wiring, cabling, water-proofing, etc; nothing jury-rigged after the boat-built fact.

The drop-in-anytime attitude is not a surprise. Mark Anasis and Gregor Tarjan continue to maintain very open communications with us and remain very flexible. We're happy with our decision to go Alpha.
