Total cost, 24 bajillion dollars, but that includes delivery to your favorite location. And a cup holder.

Re: Multihull Sailing Boat?

There is a certain irony that something that you have to be stupidly rich to buy is powered by a sail (and not even a proper one so it's not really 'true' sailing).

If you can buy one of those, why not just get a conventional motor yacht?

Hats off to the designer though, very 'James Bond villan' looking and would pretty much bring any port to a standstill for sure.

Re: Multihull Sailing Boat?

At least this Shuttleworth design isn't pretending to be a sailing Multi AND it's not a concept, as you can see it has been built.....

If we convert this figure to square inches - does it explain the size and type of the prop better?

Can't believe they will have a way to launch or control such a huge kite! The kite is just a media stunt.

The automated kite systems are already in use:

Re: Multihull Sailing Boat?

Wow. Look at that freighter flying a sail to save fuel.

Maybe some day they will develop a cargo carrying ship that only uses sails.

What a great idea.

Re: Multihull Sailing Boat?

Although not a kite powered trimaran,al least you can fold this one!!;

http://www.ultraluxum.com/yachting/

48 meters long and 23 wide unfolded, just 11 meters wide in order to slip into your berth.

Cheers,

JJ

Re: Multihull Sailing Boat?

From another thread. The same idea, bigger kite, smaller ship, not 24 kts but sure looks like fun:

Cheers,
