Either way again a nice looking boat & goo luck with it.
We are heading to USA as part of our round the world search for one as we hope to start in Florida as we are ship wreck searching :-)
I got it for 151,000 USD, Plus I paid for the haul out and survey, $1000,AUD
Ozzie Epirb $400AUD

I am in Australia, But I will be sailing it home, No I still havent seen the boat, Next Wednesday will be the first time I have seen it or put foot on it,

I was looking at one in San Diego, It was going to cost $124,000 extra to ship it here,
That included GST AQIS customs, Delivery, Broker, ETC The whole kit and caboodle,
On top of the actual cost of the boat,

That worked out too much for me to buy it,
And crossing the whole Pacific was a bit too much for me, Fiji is bad enough for my first trip, But I will enjoy myself doing it,

Wish you luck, Florida and San Diego or there abouts are full of boats for sale,

I will lose about seven or eight grand on the exchange rate when paying for it,

The banks gives an exchange rate for the day a couple of percent lower than the official exchange rate,
Nice easy money and they do nothing for it, Thats another con that costs you extra that you have to keep in mind,

4 or 5 % doesnt sound like much, but when your over 100 grand it mounts up.

150,000-00 X 5 % = $7500-00, Thank you very nicely, Say the bank, easy money,

Sending the money costs $35-00 and $25-00 for a middle man, cheap. Exchange of currencys, OUCH,

Re: Multihull Cost

Thats not a bad price then, as things go, we have USA $$ WE changed them from NZ when it was hi so we just transfer from one account to another as we know we will find one there as there are so many over there. A friend sad he will sale any cat or boat from any country as long as his flights & Food are paid for, & he has done a few crossings from NZ to Tonga,Fiji so lucky in some ways if we want to do a big crossing as we have never done one either. Good luck with yours & we my see you on the water one day.

Re: Multihull Cost

I forgot to add that when I get to Australia, It will cost me extra to import it.

Cost of provisions, extras I paid in Fiji, crew if any, I dont have to pay the 5% Duty as the boat was built in the USA and I can prove it,

Customs is $330-00 Then Aquis immigration Etc, probably about $2000-00 all up

$2000-00 plus boat $151,000-00 = $153,000-00 X10% GST $15,300-00

Total cost of boat $168,300-00 Still a lot cheaper than buying one here,
Brian.

Re: Multihull Cost

Yeh the government try & get a $$ or as many as possible $$ in some cases, I will register the boat under a UK flag so it will cost 124 UK quid but will only have 90 days in USA waters other wise a 6% sales tax has to be paid. we also have to get it measured & weighed as in tonnage & that cost $700 USA so there is anther $1000. before we set sail.
Hope the fun will be worth it in the long run.
As for getting one in Aus. Yeah they are not as cheap as other areas.
We still may go to PNG & get one built but it will take at least 1&1/2 year to do & i would like to sailing around the Caribbean in a years time
At least you will have some good weather to start your trip. :-)

Re: Multihull Cost

I hate to mention this but last year we bought our 02 Gemini 105MC / with the screacher track for $98,000.00 but I was watching the Yacht World site daily and saw our boat go from $135.000.00 to $98,000.00 and the day it did I made an offer from our past boat at anchor in the San Juan islands. So keep looking and make offers, good deals can be found. The seller was buying a house in Hawaii for cash and I had cash to buy our boat. We did spend about $20,000.00 on transport and taxes after the purchase.

Re: Multihull Cost

Now that is the bargain that we want, congrats on getting that boat.
We have made a few offers but have missed out. One called M.Jackson was in the Mississippi area & was being sail to Miami & they had someone make an offer for 100k from 125k & they took it.
Another was down from 145k to 125k as the owner had cancer & need a fast sale.
We have plenty of time when we are in the states so hope something will show for us.
