Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft
That plate coming thru the deck. You may consider building a lip around it and filling it with 3M. This maxes out the thickness of 3M sticking to the plate and gives a very long life watertight seal.
Unless it is a very dry deck.
Great job. I wish I had a fraction of your skills!

My gosh Atoll, that certainly looks good. What an impressive job you've done so far. Good on you.

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft
Its a funny thing. Until Alex took the hammer to this Prout, I was not a Prout fan. In the interim of this build, a little research had been done by moi, and I have come to see the philosophy and rationale behind the design.
Im still not keen on the "bed in the living room" concept. But have come round to the strengths of the sailing ideal.

me neither, but then being able to have an almost 300 degree view of the horizon from your bed without getting up,must be a plus when sailing with inexperienced crew,or short handed

I have short sailed a larger Prout than this and recall the feeling, if not the actual trip of a solid vessel. In assessing a vessel for personal ownership, My criteria is a vessel that MUST be sea worthy and able to be sailed from the cockpit easily. After that, the interior layout must not jar my senses or have something that I cant live with. In itself it leaves the design open to almost anything that feels ok. Galley up or down, 2 or three cabins....... I do not like walk through heads to get to a cabin..... that is a no in my book.
I think if this was my Prout, I might have gone the other choice and sectioned off the bed. It would have taken a little interior design to get rid of the "train compartment" look but I might have lived with it... or redesigned it like a Catalac.
In any event, it will be a fine low cost high quality boat when finished and fit for sailing.

Re: Modernizing a Prout Elite 37ft
aft cabins furniture back together now,bar the hinges, catches and trims.
finished in there for a while until toe rail is done and floors in, in the forward cabins .
I need to find a couple of hatches for the aft cabins as well, funny size 15x15 inch.
boat needs a good clean out as well, aft deck is starting to look like a junk yard with accumulated rubbish and offcuts
