Having been on the
water for almost 2 years - about time to update all on where and what...
CNO is a 39C from the design board of Bob Oram (a bloody genius), as I am achieving at 7+knots some 2 miles per litre of
diesel running my kubota nani saildrives at 2500rpm which equates to around 10hp from the nominal 20 hp engines.
2 trips, one to South Percy and 7 days sheltering from a southerly before heading back to
Brisbane to fit
3 blade fixed propellers.
At present I am up 'moon river' near Cairns anchored up and saving up my pension to continue up to Milne Bay later this year (I hope) - I have to find a crew as the near 4 day
passage has me worried in this crossing to either Samarai Island or Alotau to clear
customs (about 480 N miles).
My other option is to sell CNO and fly over to PNG and use banana
boats to get around. I sort of like
day sailing alone but long passages alone are not good.
Here is a couple of
images of my
boat, both at the anchorage at Cairns
