Marina berths, winter haul out: advance planning.

I'm taking delivery of a new 52ft cat in July next year in the South of France.

The vague plan is to cruise the Western Med for Aug, Sep, Oct, then put the boat to bed until the Spring. Whether on the hard or in a berth (so I can sail in the winter if I want to) is still TBD.

I have no experience of finding marina berths, moorings or onshore space in the region, I'm wondering how far in advance should I be thinking about this and putting arrangements in place for a boat of this size?
