Re: Manta is Back

Well -- possibly. A company has apparently purchased the molds and is planning on putting the powercat in to production late this year. I spoke with the owner and he's hoping to bring the sailcats in to production next year. Here is his web site: MANTA Catamarans

If you're interested in learning more about the prior boats, visit Manta Owners Association | A site for the benefit of Owners of Manta Catamarans.

Re: Manta is Back

I find it a bit hard to take their efforts all that serious if there marketing efforts include craigslist...

That being said... I think the dinghy davit setup on the Manta Cats was one of the coolest setups ever...

Re: Manta is Back

The sailcat molds were in very bad shape. They are basically the original 1993 molds with modifications over time and have had 127 boats pulled out of them. They almost failed completely in 2006 and required a lot of corrective surgery then. They have been out in the weather since 2008, so I would think the work and money required to bring them back into production shape would not be worth it all.

We will see...
