Lucia 40 washing machine

Hi all. Is anyone aware of where is located the optional washing machine in the 4 cabins version of the Lucia 40. I now where it goes on the 3 cabins owner version (front of the shower) but I was wondering where it would be in a 3 cabins version.
Thx

Fyi this is part of our prep. ahead of buying a cat in europe in 2020 tok sail it back to Australia with our kids 😊.

If you aren't going to be helpful, then don't post.

There is plenty of conjecture on this site as it is...

Re: Lucia 40 washing machine

I honestly do not think there is an option for the 4 cabin version for a washing machine. They were designed as "charter versions" and thus no washing machine. Only the 3 cabin version, to my knowledge, had a washing machine option. More or less like other small 4 cabin cats - no place for such a luxury!

Seriously, lived off-grid raising kids for decades using one of these

Very easy, don't take much room, just don't let a backlog pile up.

I found this on Best Buy website (under reviews): "The unit has no need for the top washer, except the back left corner has a switch that senses the washer (or dryer in my case) is on top to allow it to work. If you placed a weight on there or bypassed it, I don't see any reason it would not work stand alone..."

"The LG - SideKick 1.0 Cu. Ft. 6-Cycle High-Efficiency Pedestal Washer, Model # WD100CW has its own power cord has to be plugged into its' own dedicated standard 120V/60 Hz household outlet. A 15 Amp Time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended.."

Further reading indicates that several people have used under different brands of washers and dryers, and just bypassed the switch to make it work.

So IMHO this is a very interesting idea... however some of the reviews indicated that the unit was too small to wash sheets/blankets in.

Re: Lucia 40 washing machine

If true interesting.

I saw a comment that it has 34 different connections to the main unit, requires a pro to install.

Its definitely small but if you are limited on space then it might work. I would be interested to know how well the seal will hold after getting bounced around.

About Koh-I-Noor - Eco-friendly Clothing Spin Dryer

i have it, plastic, slightly smaller version. Benefit is that clothes come out near dry so drying time very short. Can do bed sheets, big enough.

Re: Lucia 40 washing machine

There are a few of these dryers on Amazon. One interesting example is the Panda 3,200 rpm dryer with a 300 watt motor that is similar to the Kohinor above. I estimate that they fit around half a cubic foot of laundry, which is pretty small but the size makes sense on a smaller boat. The drying function works well.

I have been wondering if it is possible to modify the motor control circuitry to do a wash cycle on these spinners. It should spin the drum in opposite directions every minute or so. Should be possible to modify. This would be an ideal washer-dryer for a smaller boat.
