Lost my trimaran in San Francisco
Hi all,
Not as bad as it sounds.
I built a 35ft. Horstman Tristar 1975 - 1979 in the town of Alviso, CA. I had a lot of fun sailing San Francisco bay and living aboard off and on over the years. It was a good stable boat with lots of room for guests. I sold it in 1990 to a guy , Patrick, in Bethel Island, CA. He let his son Ryan live on it for several years. Since the owner died 5 years ago I have lost track of where the boat is or if it is still afloat. I contacted the son who had been estranged from his Dad for several years as to the whereabouts of the boat. His Dad had told him it had sunk. Ryan is skeptical about the truth of that statement. IF the boat had indeed sunk, I think it would have had to burn to the waterline first. I any case, I am hoping that someone out there has some knowledge about this boat and its fate.

Re: Lost my trimaran in San Francisco
Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Gary.
What was the boat named, colours, etc?

The boat was registered in the State of California or federally documented. Do you have any of the old paperwork? Insurance that mentions the assigned number?

It is probably a homeless camp by now. Maybe Newsom can help find it (for a fee)..

Gary,
Best of luck finding her. Possibly the father said she sank just to keep the kid out of her again.

Yup, name color, type of registration/documentation (# if available) and that kinda thing.
But, dontcha know, peopled can change boat names, change boat colors and re-register.
Would make it harder to find.
But it simply could be the kinda skipper who would heist a sailboat as a getaway vehicle!

Re: Lost my trimaran in San Francisco
I had named the tri "Tuluse" (pronounced too loose) and the dingy "Tutrek".
The boat was registered as an undocumented vessel and is listed in the Maritime books... I think up till about 1989. There is a number associated with it, but I have no idea what the number means. It is not a CF number.
I did talk to the DMV and they tried to find it under my name, but they only keep records eight years back.
Patrick was a bit of a scofflaw, so the boat may have never been re-registered.
I did find some pictures a took at a 4th of July party on the Delta. The paint has been changed to white hull with brown trim.
I may have to take a ride out to Bethyl Island and see if I can find anyone that new Patrick. I fear the boat is indeed a ghost.

Re: Lost my trimaran in San Francisco
Yes, that is the boat. I am trying to connect with the US Coast Guard... not very hopeful. I'd love to make contact with any other Horstman owners on the SF bay.
