Looking for advice buying a lagoon 380

Weíre mostly settled on getting a lagoon 380. We looked at a few catamarans in this size and got under contract for a 2002 Lagoon 380.
The survey hasnít happened yet, but the boat looks to be in good condition, one year old main sail and standing rigging, very clean and no obvious faults.
It has all the cruising gears we want like low hour generator, water maker and AC. Engines are a little high in hours at about 6500. I understand in todayís market prices are high.
I am uncertain if 190K is a good price for this boat.
The posts about lagoonís bulkhead issue are also unnerving.
Being our first boat, are there something Iím missing? Or anything I should be particularly careful about during the survey?

No comment other than the engine hours lead to some suspicion that she has been in charter in her past life. Not many private boats rack up that many. This may or may not be of interest to you in your decision.

Get a moisture metre, there was a lot of poorly encapsulated balsa in the the hulls of that and the 410.

I see. The previous owner has had her for 3 years or so and went around the great loop. It is a 3 cabin owner version layout. But I am not sure if it was ever used for charter. Is that very bad? If a boat was used for charter but then bought by a private owner for a few years?
Thanks

I don't want to be nasty but with the level of knowledge I see here the only recommendation can be:
Get a good trustworthy surveyor.

Iím well aware that I donít have much knowledge at all in assessing boats. I did get a surveyor recommended by a friend and sailboat owner for decades.
Survey is happening in two days.
I want wanted to get some input for the CF hive mind.

Re: Looking for advice buying a lagoon 380

Many or even most cats like the one you are looking at were in charter. That puts some wear and tear on the boat but not a deal breaker. The engine hours are not really a big deal if the oil was changed regularly and the sail drive serviced. Most modern engines (Volvo, Yanmar) will go 10,000 hours with no problems. Not running them is worse than hours. If everything checks out well with the engines (start easily, no smoke etc) and a surveyor gives it a good mark I would not worry about it. I have sailed a cat with 9,000 hours on the Yanmars and they purred like kitens even tho they are all original. Well maintained (look like new) and maintained.

Around deck fittings, and skin fittings particularly. But your surveyor should know what to look for and where

Charter boats also rack up beaucoup generator hours, as a rule. Makes a guy wonder.

Even if the surveyor recommendation was from a good friend be sure your radar is on number 9 when you meet. Also, and this is just me, confirm they will be using a comprehensive checklist and you will get a copy.

Ah! I see. I suppose it's the inside of these fittings. I will be paying close attention to these.

The generator is at around 700-800 hours. I think that is considered low, right?

I will be present and paying attention to the surveyor, I'll ask him if he uses a checklist. What should I look for in a surveyor?
