I own a Fountaine Pajot, so I've got nothing to bias me except a friendly rivalry against Lagoon owners and I most certainly do "see clearly". What I see are a couple people on this thread, you among them, trying to start an outrage machine to turn a molehill into a mountain. Sure, it looks like a major boat manufacturer may have built a class of boats with a defect. Be a grownup and deal with it if you're impacted by negotiating with them and if that doesn't work taking legal action. If you don't own one of these boats, then one wonders why you're feeling the need to manufacture the outrage? What exactly are you trying to accomplish here?

So you propose that owners should somehow know about this defect and how exactly? If they aren’t on computers all the time because maybe they are actually sailing, then if what you propose happens then lagoon will have no responsibility to inform owners of the defect, because it’s not a defect? That seems a little too easy for them I think. Cmon, they need to address this, send out info and track down all owners and past owners and future owners of this potentially dangerous and life threatening issue. Do you not agree it could pose danger?

This is SOP for them. I heard a rumor of an escape hatch recall and had to contact my dealer for info. Same with a mast step issue. Same with a crossbeam issue. I have never once, not once, been contacted and made aware of an issue. Everything I've learned about have been from other owners.

You must be mistaking me for another poster? I am pointing out the absurdity and pure pretentiousness of a group of people (and I include myself in that group although I sincerely hope without the sense of entitlement) with multi-million dollar boats equating themselves with desperately poor people working in meat packing plants in 1905 and calling for scarce consumer protection resources to all fall down at their feet and solve this incredibly first world problem, that's all. Do you disagree with me on that?
Should Lagoon do a recall if this is indeed a defect on their part? Absolutely, I don't see a lot of disagreement on that anywhere on this thread. I certainly haven't disagreed with that. Do we need to get hysterical about this as some posters, who it looks like don't even own the boat in question, are doing on this thread? I'm not sure what purpose that serves?

Sense of entitlement and outrage is almost fashionable these days.
Points to Colin for, "get it done son."
Guess that is shortest route to objective.
Thats is actually sailing.

Personal opinion, the L450 just doesn't have the aesthetics......looks like a school bus and sails like one!

Re: Lagoon cats now on discount...
And WEC, do you really think that Lagoon 450 owners give a toss what you prefer?
But, get it of your chest anyways.
I am curious if Lagoon do a recall I guess whether hurricane damaged/repaired or not is irrelevant? I think car manufacturers honour recalls on non related smash repairs.

As we bought ours, my surveyor pointed out the recall for the nascelle and inspected the drilled holes.
Regarding the hatches, the boat broker approached me two years after the deal and sent me the recall document the former owner has received from Lagoon with the notification to call the nearest dealer to obtain the kit and / or arrange to install it by them soon.
Two weeks later I've got a mail from my insurance company to go immediately to the next harbor and let the kit be installed before I can go back out at sea.
So Lagoon used all available channels to communicate and find the owners. It doesnt mean that I find the fix appropriate, but the recall was done, for my taste with a little overreach, as the issue was around for a while and there was no immediate danger.
Not sure how Fountaine Pajot, Bali, Outremar have dealt with the Goiot hatch problem so far.

Looks like goon blinked.
Who else saw this coming?
I posted about the growing inventory at YW.
It was either concede, or watch tbe market dictate terms as the brand burned.

Can you clarify what you mean by "goon blinked"?

Re: Lagoon cats now on discount...
Colin posted a video where Lagoon agreed that they will pay for the 450 mess. Well more or less, some terms will surely apply.
If I were Lagoon I certainly would not spend $1 for any totalled hurricane boat.
I don't think this has anything to do with Lagoon feeling the pressure of the market, or watching yachtworld inventory rise.
It would take years of lawsuits and bad press (I mean real press like yachting magazines, not CF and YT) for them to notice.
Maybe they are just trying to do the right thing.

AFAIK, they will pay all inspections at the next Lagoon partner or Lagoon service center, all fixes on normal used boats including charter and offer consulting / help for fixing boats with groundings and unusual damages - to be fixed to a Lagoon certification standard, case by case.

Will they reinforce those that have yet to have problems?

Fascinating duality. You appear to skew older by believing legacy editorial bests social media. But then you conclude with a puzzling statement of faith.
In the real world, social sets the agenda, making or breaking trends, brands and personalities. The corporate sphere understands this power; it has nothing to do with moral conduct. Colin lit them up - they simply had no choice.
Most assuredly, there isnt a builder who isnt secretly chuckling, yet have also directed in depth reviews of both design and mfg processes.
Perhaps the most important lesson is to get in front of these kinds of PR disasters. If Ben exec mgmt had been smart, they would have had one of their savvy 20 something kids heading up a social platform damage control program.
