L450 Cooler Box Insulation

Hi All, do any L450 owners out there have any input into this? My "cooler box", the box insert outside port aft of the saloon doors for drinks storage with the drain hole, is clearly not insulated. Ice goes in and melts in a couple of hours. Does anyone else have this experience? I ask as if it is something that was missed by the factory, then we have a route for recourse, however if it's not meant to be insulated then I need to explore ways of having it done as melted ice doesn't do my Aperol spritz's much good!

Thanks in advance for your comments.

MD

Ours came with no insulation. We put a wine carton in there to take our empties.

No Insulation in ours either. I think that is standard.

It's our Flags, Flares and other emergency gear locker.

Regards

Mark.

Thanks both for your replies. I've checked with the yard and sure enough, it is not supplied with insulation. Am thinking to remove the countertop for access and spray with expanding foam insulation to keep ice for longer than a couple of hours.

You may consider insulating underside of the lid with foam sheet as well. Alternatively you may find a Styrofoam cool box that fits inside.

Sure, that's a good idea too. Once I remove the countertop, I may consider pulling the whole box and then fabricate a frame to drop in a proper off the shelf cool box. Likely get the best results that way, it's just getting it to look seamless once it's all back together again.
