James Wharram at Florida Rendezvous

================================================== =====
Come join us at from May 18 - 20 2012 at the Spring Wharram Rendezvous in Islamorada in the beautiful Florida Keys. At this year's gathering you will have the rare opportunity to meet the world renowned designers James Wharram and Hanneke Boon. James and Hanneke will be in Florida to celebrate the opening of Boatsmith's new shop, check out Boatsmith's construction of the first fiberglass Ariki 47 and to attend their first Rendezvous in the USA.

This promises to be the best Wharram gathering yet! Here are the details:
WHAT: This is an annual gathering of folks who are interested in Wharram catamarans. It includes boat owners, boat builders (professional and amateur), and people who want to learn more about these unique crafts. Come, see and enjoy the boats. Just have fun. We talk about Wharrams and nearly any other boat. We tell sailing stories. We compare notes. We share pictures. We look at plans. . We eat and drink and just have fun. Bring a boat if you have one but everyone is welcome … no boat needed! AND IT'S FREE! Join us for a Dutch-treat dinner on Saturday night at the Lorelei…lots of door prizes! DUE TO THE EXPECTED VOLUME OF ATTENDEES, IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND PLEASE CALL DAN AT: 305-664-0190 OR EMAIL HIM floridawharramrendezvous@hotmail.com ASAP AS THE LORELEI NEEDS AN IDEA OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL ATTEND. PLEASE LET HIM KNOW IF YOU ALSO PLAN ON JOINING US FOR DINNER.

WHERE: We will be anchoring behind the Lorelei Restaurant at Mile Marker (MM) 82 Bayside in Islamorada (approximately N24.55.5; W80.38). The holding is sand or mud over a coral plate but adequate if the winds don't pick up (but bring two anchors anyway). Dragging is possible. Depth ranges from 2’ – 7’. The Lorelei will allow us to use their property for dinghies (about ¼ - ½ mile from the anchored boats).
SATURDAY NIGHT GROUP DINNER AND OTHER INFO: We will hold our Saturday evening Dutch-treat dinner party at the Lorelei. As in the past there will be a limited menu. There is live music every evening. Dining is mostly outdoors, although the bar area is covered (priorities!). Many of us will use the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from hamburgers, fish and conch sandwiches to full meals. The food is very good and the ambience is definitely “Keysey”. The Lorelei is both a local’s and tourist hangout. Kayaks and bicycles can be rented nearby. Check out the Lorelei at www.loreleicabanabar.com. Free WI-FI is now available property-wide at the Lorelei. You can also use the computers and internet connection at the Islamorada Library which is a short walk from the Lorelei.
