As an owner, I unfortunately think the headline is true, but it doesn't mean the market for catamarans will free fall. I think the mono market has gone through a for some painful correction. People was getting used that boats kept their
price, but they don't anymore. Boats last pretty long and there isn't that much innovation that obsolete the old ones.
Also, what happened in the mono market was .... ~10 years ago
Bavaria started to drastically lower the price for a new
boat. Finally, increased productivity had reached this business the they other had no choice but to follow. I'm a bit concerned that this productivity boost has not reached the cat market yet, but
Bavaria just bought Nautitiech. Be interesting to follow that development.
But the good thing for us Cat owners is that I think the share of people preferring a
Catamaran is increasing. How much that will offset above, and the stream of x-charter cats into the market, future will tell. But I don't think it will free fall.
