Hi Simon,
I got a very quick response from Edward William and a reasonable quote.
Then I googled Northern Reef and found some very negative stuff, although to be fair a lot of it appears to be from one guy using different names on different forums. Probably the claim you refer to, but quite a lot of other folk climbed on the bandwagon with various negative experiences.
Most of it goes back 3 or 4 years and nothing more recent.
I was wondering if you did much looking into their background
The fact is you can pick just about any insurance company and find a big 'disgruntled client' file, but I was wondering what you found.

Mr Google says as of July last year they only insure boats over $1m, unless you're an existing client.
Have you heard anything like this?
I'm going to ask them for a quote anyway.

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
There is a WHOLE thread dedicated to this, I suggest that you read it ! The search function is your friend.
The cheapest way way will be to bring it over yourself if it's big enough.

Thanks for the reply, I just want updated info this thread has been going for many years, the boat I'd be looking at bringing over would be no bigger than 26feet and I'd rather import in some how instead of bringing it over myself due to lack of experience

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
You might want to do more than a "fair bit" of research if you even remotely think that you could even consider bringing it over yourself!!!

Well I'm not personally going to bring it over, the question I'm asking is what is the best way to bring it over with minimal cost, like through a certain company etc. I was pretty much seeing if anyone has done it before and who they did it through so I can get a contact whom I can call up and find out more info

Try, Aussiespeccaravans, in Ontario California, They bring in boats, and can tell you how much it will cost you,
I am bringing in a 36 foot RV and the shipping cost of that was almost 12 Grand for the shipping part alone,
No GST or Customs charges,

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
Buying and shipping ANY 26 footer is a waste of money.

Re: Importing a Boat to Australia
Roughly to bring it over on a ship you would be looking at $1,000 per foot, to get somebody to sail it over for you in the long run would cost you more. Don't forget the cost of transport to the port were the ship is plus the packing of your boat.

Perhaps not, see post 1031.
