Re: Harris 33' Trimaran

Thank you for the info. I had it out of the water when I bought it as a marine nearby could handle 22' but the nearest by me is 60 miles. I will have to go back to Canada I suppose to get it painted. I was going to install the sundanzer 1.8 refrigerator connected to solar panels on the front akas. My goal is to have solar power for the separate systems with two 200w panels at the aft end for the main batteries, two 45 watt panels on the akas, with controller and battery for the ref and aux solar power on the amas to power two electric scooters for land travel.

Re: Harris 33' Trimaran

That's a lot of solar. I'd connect it all to the main house bank and plug in scooters etc. as needed.

Will keep it on advisement. That is one of the reasons I bought the Tri, for the extra surface area for solar as well as people holding area.

Re: Harris 33' Trimaran

Congratulations! Like all our trimarans, weight is your enemy unless performance takes a back seat to comfort (which is perfectly fine for some).

Just for reference, we bought our Corsair 36 in BC and had it shipped across the US to Maryland, and there are some great people and marinas in BC. Notably Canoe Cove, but more info could be had by calling Yacht Sales West, Mike Carkeek. Yacht Broker (Sidney). (250) 656-6644

Even as difficult the process was for us, Mike was a real trooper and hung in there all the way to the boat's arrival. He can give you the names of some great folks who know tris and have worked on them extensively, including hulls and rigging. Tell him Lee sent you!

Re: Harris 33' Trimaran

Yes, that is where I had the boat taken out, they are the only ones that can do 23'. There was only 6 inches on either side and it was the widest boat the operator had pulled. I had some guys from Blackline do some work and was very happy with it. Its just going to be a bummer going back 80 miles in the winter especially across the straits.

Blackline actually did repairs to our tri, to a very high quality. They are also great with rigging.

Re: Harris 33' Trimaran

Just wanted to post some updates: I was able to contact Rodney Cowen who knew Mr. Harris and he told me there are no surviving docs for the 33' eclipse so if anyone has any info, it would be much appreciated. I had a trailer made for the boat and will be taking it out at the end of summer. I upgraded to Blue Sea AC panels, Fusion/Sirius radio and some other creature comforts for the summer. West Marine had a %30 off sale for the LEHR 15hp propane motor so I went for it and I am now trying to take out the inboard. Thank you for all the comments and info.

Hi I've seen this boat for sale on sailboatlistings.com and reached out with no reply. Are you selling it?

-maintenance over the more recent years - will of course be the major consideration..

-the crawl through forward of the mast area bulkhead was one thing that didn't work for me on some harris tri's, haven't seen this 33 .

Hi I know this an old post but any chance you still have those drawings? I just went and looked at your old tri yesterday and would love to see them.
It's in pretty rough shape, still using original sails, all the portlights and hatch are broken, paint is peeling inside and out, interior wood needs refinishing, etc... but I'm still thinking about buying it and restoring her.
