Green Stuff in Water Hose

The other day I was going to fill my water tank and a lot of green stuff(probably algae) came out of my white water hose. Apparently it came off the walls of the hose. Any tips on how to get rid of this-and keep it from happening again?

Thanks,
Brian

The only way would be to hold the hose on end to drain out the water after use. Then run it a few minutes before filling tank.

Pour some unscented chlorine bleach in (use a funnel), and let stand for an hour (or more).
Flush /w copious high velocity fresh water.
As noted drain dry, after each use.
