Good Yacht Brokers in Miami

Hi Folks

I am going to Miami in December, mainly for pleasure, but also hope to take a day or two to do abit of boat hunting.

Could anyone suggest any good brokers with a decent line up of used boats.

Spec -

Blue Water
45 - 60 ft
Cat or Mono (but mainly Cat)
Budget circa $300k

One issue with the web is that many brokers have centralised databases which is a little mis-leading as to what they actually have on their own forecourt so to speak.

We are keen to go and look in the bilges of a few boats.

Many thanks

These 2 multihull companies are the biggest in the US. Both in Fort Lauderdale. Lots of cats at their docks.

A lot of those mono brokers don't know multis. Their listings talk about ballast and deck stepped masts (duh) so you know they don't have a clue. Could be bad could be not so bad. BOB

Best way to find out what is for sale all in one place in http://www.YachtWorld.com. It bothers me too that brokers try to mislead about what they have for sale. I guess it is because everybody co-brokers, so any broker can sell any other yacht for sale. But a useful trick for anyone wondering what a brokerage has for sale is to go to their sub page on YachtWorld. For instance here is mine: http://yachtworld.com/jordanyacht

Cat brokers in town include:
* CatCo.
* Just Catamarans
* Multihull Co.
* Moorings

And of course put me on the list. We're more of a monohull group, but I think cats are the future down here so am getting more into that business. I delivered a Lagoon 440 earlier this year and just sold a Leopard 46. Would love to show a fellow Cruiser Forum member a good time while in Miami.

Re: Good Yacht Brokers Miami

I just wanted to throw my two cents in here... when i was looking for my cat about 10 years ago, I used this guy: ddowns@floridayachtbrokers.com
David Downs
Florida Yacht Charters & Sales
1290 Fifth Street
Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 532-8600 Ext. 118

He treated me right, listened to my wants and needs, and made buying my boat less stressful than I had anticipated. Idon't know if he is still there, but if he is, give him a try.

Whoever you contact, an idea would be to give them some notice, so they can line up a good group of cats to see. They can scout out thelocal boats and pick out theclean, squared away ones. Not sure whereyou are at but might behelpful to see one each of the big 3: Lagoon, Leopard, and Fountain Pagot.

When you hit Miami, please visit my store. I'd love the chance to meet you. We're located on the Miami River near the airport.
