Post Good surveyor sought neighborhood Martinique

Hi guys,

Can anyone give a good advice for a surveyor in Martinique or (maybe even better) neighbouring islands? We are in New Zealand and see a nice catamaran for sale in Martinique. We would like someone that really has a lot of knowledge and will find hidden flaws.

Thanks for any input and enjoy your day

Bob Goodchild in Grenada. He travels all over the Caribbean and is very knowledgeable about cats... Flyingfish Ventures | Caribbean Marine Surveying Used him a couple of times myself and know others who have also used him.

Great, thanks !! Did he find hidden problems in a boat he surveyed for you? Something someone might pretty easily have missed?

I do see on the website that it says only C 2009-2013 and on the page about Bob I see: "He continues to enjoy sailing adventures having recently completing a Pacific trip to Tahiti, where he still managed to fit a survey into his schedule.". But this might not be current info. I will email him immediately, thanks again!!

Jonathan Sands gets to most of the islands. He found a couple of major items we had missed and the PO did not disclose. I would certainly hire him again.

Cheers,

About Bob:

I contacted him, and he already answered. Unfortunately the answer is that he doesn't do Martinique anymore; too little flights going there and back :-(

There is very good Jeanneau parts guys there - go in and check with them as they are excellent and can probably recommend someone local if such a thing exists

Chris Kessel in St. Lucia is a good guy also - has done a few for us on a 44' cat. His wife is great customs broker, and brother does marine elexs if I recall.....Rodney Bay - a short ferry ride from Martinique. Also know Bob Good child - did insurance claim survey for our insurance company several years ago. But Grenada is farther away so will have extra travel costs.

But if you want French surveyor, don't have first hand recommendation but some contacts in Marin who could likely help.

Hi, my boat is in Rodeny Bay and Chris Kessel is good. The problem is trying to get work done around Christmas. Everyone is closed. Here is Chris's phone #, 1 758 720 0100. Tell him Terry on AQUARELLE said hi.

That # may be more current - but if not, I also have (758) 450-0651 as business, (758) 484-3547 as cell, and kessellc@candw.lc for email for Chris. And please also tell him Kevin from Mustard Seed sends his best!

Re: Good surveyor sought neighborhood Martinique

Thanks to you both! The surveyor in St Lucia might be perfect, as the boat is located in Le Marin so indeed a very nice ferry-only distance away! I've contacted him as well.

Jonathan was very quick with replying his email but he has a delay of a month at the moment and he needs to travel much more so that will cost much more. If there's a person closer that is just as skilled, that's better.
