Goiot hatches recall

After Fountaine Pajot, Catana group also announced a recall for Goiot hatches. If you own Catana or Bali and you are not yet contacted by the factory, pls get in touch with them. I know that one Bali and FP has sunk and the boats with these faulty hatches are strictly requested to not to sail until the kit supplied free of charge by the factory is properly installed.

Cheers

Re: Goiot hatches recall

Hatch maker Goiot Systems has announced a recall on escape hatches used by four French multihull builders, saying there is a danger that the ports could detach from their frames. The affected builders include Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot, Catana (which also builds Bali Catamarans), and Nautitech.

Re: Goiot hatches recall

Our 2003 Outremer has Goiot hatches throughout, including the two 49.42 square escape hatches. I contacted Outremer and they said while our hatches are not in the recall (the recall only affects 2014-2018 models of their square escape hatches) that Goiot is selling the new 49.42 escape hatch lids that we can fit into the existing frames. €270 each.

These hatch lids have mechanical fasteners for the lens to the frame, so if the seal fails we won’t lose the lens and have a big hole. Seems like a reasonable precaution.

The two hatch lids arrived.
