Gemini 105 MC

Hi,
I've been impressed with 105mc from afar. Future buyer perhaps. A couple of questions.
1-Why did sillette exit the sail leg business? Is that an issue?
2-How well does the steering of the sail leg work? How does it engage?
3-Explain the lines on the saildrive? How connected to the rudders? How well does that work?
4- Salon table looks like it could drop down to make a great berth for a couple, or at sea. Does it do that? CAn it be done? Anyone tried it?
5- Anyone 6ft6in+ reports on the master berth comfort?
6- Anyone have a regular size household elongated bowl set up? Composting or otherwise?
7-I remember reading an article that tony smith was surprised at weight gain of the boat over model years and concentrated on weight loss for subsequent model years. Can't find that article. Anyone? What years, especially 105mc
8- Anything else?

1. Sillete, I think, was keeping with tradition or helping the company. It worked only OK. Think Lucas electric for drive units. Finniky.
2. The steering is just rope and pullys. When raised they slacken so do not affect the drive much. When the drive is down they tighten and rudders and drive turn together.
3. I don't have the diagram at hand but all work as pull-pull if I recall.
4. My salon table was designed as a berth. Drop it and the back rests became part of the matress. Bigger than the master berth.
5. 6'6" is asking for it. I am 6'3" and made it OK, but had to make a half pillow so my head was at the bulkhead and feet had mattress under them. 6'6" means diagonal sleeping. Most just don't get that being over 6' is an unrecognized handicap. Think drinking fountains, counter tops.....everything. And, oh. Toilets....
6. Not me. Just struggled. Same for shower positioning.
7. ??

Thanks, excellent link. Waves always look smaller in photo's/videos. Those are BIG... I've seen big ones on a boat and Mavericks from shore

Sillette made saildrives for two major manufacturers, Prout and Performance Cruising Inc.

Prout went out of business and PCI switched to the Legacy model with twin inboards.

In conversation with Sillette, Glenn said the company, that they used to produce the drive leg body and transom mounting plate made some changes and those parts are no longer available. It seems, as of now, all of the other parts of the drive leg are still available.

We had some damage to the transom plate. Here's a couple of photos of the surgery we did to repair the transom plate and a fairly good photo of the drive leg steering lines:

As far as the main cabin, a queen short mattress fits nicely. No extra room for stretching out though.

We use a composter, fits well in the head and also fits behind the shower enclosure.
