FP Venezia 42 vs Lagoon 42 TPI?

Hello all, We are starting to look at purchasing an older catamaran around 42 feet in length. We were looking at Lagoon 42 TPI and FP Venezia 42.
Would you care to comment on whether one has any noticeable benefits over the other?
What about sailing characteristics and useful payload weight?

Both of them are good boats, well built, with similar sailing characteristics and payload weights. At their present age, you will be comparing upkeep, refurbs and personal preferences for things such as sail handling, seating, berths, heads, galleys, etc.

You won't go wrong with either one in good condition.

Whilst these are both great cats the newer smaller cats like the Lavezzi 40 offer more room inside and some design improvememnts and important weight reduction for about the same money.
You may care to check them out.
That said the TPI lagoon 42 is a very nice looking cat.

Is the Lagoon 42 TPI actually BALSA cored like the older Lagoon 37 model was / is ???? Worth finding that one out!

Edit - yes they are Balsa core. A whole other set of questions should now come to mind if you are still keen on the TPI.

Yes DL the newer FPs such as the Lavezzi will outperform the old Venezia, but not if you wish to carry a substantial payload.

Re: FP venezia 42 vs Lagoon 42 TPI?

I'm also guessing that the OP's choice of Venezia and L42 was driven by price range. These boats are older and less expensive than the Lavezzi.

I don't think there will be much payload difference between the three boats.

Re: FP venezia 42 vs Lagoon 42 TPI?

The Lavezzi can carry 2500kg whilst the Venezia is supposed to take 4500kg so yes if payload is your target go for it.
As for prices they are about the same so that is not a factor, but as I said they are all good boats so choose what suits your needs.

Where are you located? I've been working with some people that have been very patient and understanding in my search for the right Catamaran for me. Cheers
