Re: First proper sail.

1. You need more tension on your halywards to get the wrinkles out of your main and the scallops out of the leading edge of your headsail.

2. You need two sheets (one on each side) running from the clew of the headsail to further back on each side of the boat.

That forestay needs a lot more tension as well.. way to much slack there.. maybe a longer shot or if not possible a couple or three short films concentrating on one sail/lines at a time for a better view.
Something looked wrong with that main..

Mate she has been on the pick in the pond on the Mooloolaba River for the last coupla days. I heeded Boaties advice and really whaled on the forestay. To do this I motored up onto the beach at Outrigger Park. She is now anchored off there. I did not anchor where all the other boats do due to seeing a monohull drag it's anchor there a few weeks ago after a thunderstorm.

Re: First proper sail.

at about 0:14 seconds you will notice his forestay is attached to a cable running between the hulls. He's not gonna get much tension on the halyard or the headstay with that rig.

They look like dyneema strops. That sort of rig is common on Wharrams.

Yes this is spot on Stu.

Alright i will come clean and confess,on my first trip out thru the harbour mouth and about 300m off the coast I was dismasted. I had not paid enough attention to the relative tension of the rigging, the mast stays on the starboard hull popped out from their lashing point. One first, then the other. I had not made any frappings round these stays. The confused sea at the mouth meant the mast was jiggling about like a metronome on meth.

Crash, bang,me stick was in the drink. What a bloody palooka.
In my haste to get out and '' sail a bit'' I had not considered, nor was I aware of what lay ahead in my state of blissful ignorance, lol.

I hauled the mast back on board whilst a bloke in his fishing boat offered to stand by,cheers mate. It was the like a hyena dawn motoring/limping back to pull up the stick again.I have learned my lesson well.Until the next time.
