So why do you want a bow thruster? As long as both engines are working, a bow thruster could help some maneuvers, make the
boat go directly sideways for example, but without it you can always somehow
work the
boat where you need to.
Back to your original question, I suppose you could mount the SDs each canted somewhat towards the other
hull. Would make them less vulnerable to groundings, but less protected from debris when boards are down. I would still keep them towards the stern.
