I do believe the older engines were built to last longer . I have a 20k odd 1978 6354 and a rebuild kit that sits in the workshop. Regular oil changes anodes and coolant and runs great. Do need to do the injectors every couple of years though. Cruising speed is 1250rpm. Cast iron and liners are a thing of the past. Shame really but everyone wants quick and light nowadays

In-and-out of marinas and nothing else will kill any diesel.
