Re: Do Cat Owners Actually Beach Their Cats ?

That's awesome Z, I love this forum cause it is so global. There is always going to be some one, some where with a drink in their hand!

I'm hoping "Sand Crab" can come up with something funny about a " maine coon mix on a beach", cause he is funny as hell too!
Cheers,
Wayne

Re: Do Cat Owners Actually Beach Their Cats ?

I have beached my boat intentionally many times, but not recently. The last time I did it, I was immediately set upon by many well meaning mono guys asking if I needed a tow off. It created quite a commotion, so I just don't do it.

In hind sight I should have said something about "--but my mono is designed to be careened..".
I tell you though if that putty cat ever got loose on a Weiner farm there would be Daschund every where!

Re: Do Cat Owners Actually Beach Their Cats ?

Here's a vintage cat in the mud. Looks like it's resting on the rudders although there's a skeg just in front of those so I can't really tell. BTW it's a 1973 vintage so doing the math and accounting for my brain cell damage (intentional) that would be about a 40 year old boat.

Re: Do Cat Owners Actually Beach Their Cats ?

I might have it wrong, but it looks like a maine coon can mix with what ever it wants.
It's too big for a raccoon .... so maybe a badger or a wolverine.

Cheers,
Wayne

Re: Do Cat Owners Actually Beach Their Cats ?

Yeah, they eat wolverines after they've had their way with them. Like a black widow spider only with more fur.

Re: Do Cat Owners Actually Beach Their Cats ?

Geminis and Fusions beach well as there in no fixed keel.
Daggerboards retract fully. It does impact antifoul paint unless you use something like Coppercoat which is mixed with resin.

Re: Do Cat Owners Actually Beach Their Cats ?

We have a Seawind 1000 and we chose this boat because we can beach her and we do it all the time. I love being under the boat. Our boat has a ladder between the tarps that lets down into the water and we have a tray made that fits on it. We put our drinks and snacks on this tray. We will spend the better part of a day with her beached Do you need a bottom job more often?.....sure but it is worth it to us and it makes keeping her clean easy.

You still have to be aware of the tides so you don't get "beached" longer than you want....

As I understand it many Cat's should not be beached so you should make sure your Cat can be beached.

Sea Yawl Later!!
