Condo Cat breaks free of foundations and actually sails!

Forgive me. No, indulge me....
I've been avoiding the forum of late. Too much in the way of derogatory, parochial, insular, prejudiced and patronizing comments from some sectors, have worn me down.
One almost starts to feel embarrassed owning a vessel like my Lagoon 440.
So today I decided to "toughen up" - it's an internet forum after all where you can say anything without loosing anonymity nor do you have to conform to usual social mores.

Last day of vacation, to I decided to take the condo out for a spin....

Don't the let Trolls get under your skin. With ALL forums, there are hundreds of members which appreciate what you have to say, yet say nothing. Then there is <1% who need to feel better about themselves. Unfortunately the anonymity of a forum allows them to do so with little consequence.

Forums evoke a sense of comradery, so we begin to lull ourselves into believing the community is full of 'friends'. I think of it as a handful of friends in a crowd and one A-hole stranger passing by making a snarky comment as he moves on. Let them move on an let them go F@$% themselves. This individual is not representative of the community.

I admit I can tend to be a Troll, but only when someone is clearly giving bad advice or misinformation masked as 'fact'.

Greetings from a chilly New York City. Don't listen to the haters, I'd give my right you know what for a Lagoon 440...

Ditto: Someday, with a big wind, surfing down a big wave, I might scare 9, which will probably scare me.

Look, there are plenty of people out there having a great experience sailing their Lagoon 440s. It is a wonderful boat. Be sure to check out the Catamaran Impi VLOG on youtube. I had the opportunity to sail on a Lagoon 450S and I posted my video on my channel iliohale Productions on youtube. I was totally impressed with the boat. Extremely well built, safe, comfortable, and sails well. I would be proud to own one. People have different priorities and not everyone is going to be comfortable and willing to accept the trade offs of an Outremer or can afford something like a Gunboat. The Lagoons are a great choice, reasonably priced and capable of taking you anywhere safely and with comfort.

Don't let the naysayers get you down! Your 440 is an awesome boat!

If and when you decide you can no longer endure the embarrassment of owning that horrible boat I could be persuaded to take if off your hands.

Seriously though, I think it might be the most popular cat there is.

If you are taking withing 100 degrees against a foul tide, that is bloody impressive. I cannot do that in my boat. You're not going very fast -- about 50% of TWS -- but you're obviously not pinching, or else leeway would go up and you would see that on the track.

My boat ought to be much faster than yours, but at slack tide in those conditions 100 degrees over ground is just about the best I can do, maybe 95 in really flat conditions, and worse and worse with a foul tide. That will be at max VMG to windward, which for me means I will be doing 2/3 of TWS.

Re: Condo Cat breaks free of foundations and actually sails!

I can also admit jealousy in your ownership. They've posted some decent times in ARCs, and can fit so much. It's up to you how you want to outfit it/live in it/sail it. I had to stop going on posts on tiny house sites featuring our build. "Why is the loft above the kitchen and shower? All that heat and humidity would just go up into it." "Ugh, so many stairs." "I would've turned the gooseneck into a living room." "Why would you have a full-sized tub? I'd just have a shower with the toilet in it."

Seriously. Make the choices that make you happy. I'm always glad to take advice, but people who will never know how to make your life work don't just get to critique. If there is an alternate solution that saves me money that I don't know about, great. However, my truck is necessary to tow my house, say. It also takes me out to BLM land, and hauls supplies to build from Home Depot.

Enough rant. Nice post. Congratulations on getting out!

Of course, like every catamaran, the motors were running 100% of the time....
