Yea.
Everybody knows if you can't afford a "real" cat you end up with a Gem.

Nah,
We’ve owned 2 Gems and think they are one of the best cat’s for what they are designed for. Would never consider them to be a high dollar polished yacht, but wouldn’t know what that is as we’ve never owned one!

Schionning Wilderness $95,000 in Mexico

This 36' 2016 Wilderness looks like a really good value. It's not much a project either although I would add a bimini.

A simple world cruiser for someone that likes to sail! I'd be all over that boat if I were in the market.

Once.

Actually maybe for a couple seasons, but it's a lightweight fiberglass build design and most certainly wasn't designed to be driven with that kind of power. There's a pretty good chance of causing structural damage.

No need for speculation. Call the manufacturer.

Very helpful suggestion but the manufacturer is out of business for several years now. Hence the OP post asking for the info.

Oops. Could try emailing "sales@geminicatamarans.com" or calling Ms Hershfeld, current president of what's left of the company, at 410-626-2720.

I thought Hunter was building these for Performance Cruising .... No?

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

For a gemini with a single outboard, a 140lb 40-hp tohatsu 2-stroke is about max if keeping it sensible. Of course a new 20hp Suzuki efi around 107lbs would (to me, as to most people on a sailing forum) be a much better choice. Despite the "floating condo" reputation, it's still a sailboat... Yes I suppose someone could beef up- then redesign- the outboard mount to handle more weight. Some non-sailors still call for more & more hp, but the weight distribution will seriously suffer. With that weight so far back I'd try to keep it well under 200lbs - maybe Tohatsu 60hp (with a custom motor mount) at around 215lbs if you're ferrying tourists back and forth, or something,.. I think 90hp would have very little speed gain over 50-60hp. And 90hp = ~350lbs, too much, you practically would have to add "ballast" to the bow to balance the boat.

Back on topic; SR31 tri (ad says epoxy) in WA (usa) $1k https://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/b...452663051.html

Sounds almost to good to be true.
Either something is wrong with boat or they missed a zero in the price.
Or they are really desperate to sell quickly.

This one might have been posted here before. Was it the same seller or a new seller?
