I always rise to the challenge. Here's a 50' aluminum cat. Nice equipment. Not a project but kinda cheap for a big one. In Tarpon Springs.

All this gratitude is making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

How about a 40' Piver in SF for $34,500.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

This one is pretty cheap for a big one and looks good quality. The propulsion system is certainly a project. Also let this be a lesson to those who think hybrid is a good idea. The failure of this system is probably why the cat is cheap and by the sounds of it the owner just gave up on getting the system to work right.

That hybrid cat has been mentioned by me on other threads before. It does have lots of nice features. Did you notice the 2 different ways they spelled the name?

Here's another

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Yeah I noticed the spelling. Its still hard to find any info on the design with both spellings. But the boat appears to suit my needs as a performance cruiser and it has great lines. First thing I would do is sell all the hybrid gear and fit real engines. It will probably make it worth about $100K more anyway.

Designers name is Jacques Fioleau, also designed the Etincelle 60 range and other monos and cats in the 80s and 90s on.
He designed some very fast boats.
Last I knew he still had an office in France, plenty of of info about, especially with Google translate. LOL
Cheers,
Mac

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I took the plunge!!
I think I got a very good deal on this one: 1970 CSK Sail Cat Sail Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com

My folks actually live in Vero, so I'll be staying with them while I bring Ono Kai up to snuff.

This is a very special boat, according to a previous owner of hull #3 , and professional boat surveyor, who has seen Ono Kai and has agreed to survey her for me.

On a different note, the owner of Malihini is VERY motivated. He is currently down to $55k and would probably take less. For those that don't mind coming to Hawaii to get her!

He's a she, and a VERY "unusual" one, too! (to put it politely)
