Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I wonder how the owners fare with their ask pricing on these oddball cats like the 46electro and the 50alum seems theres no public basis for their worth as there is with the Lagoons and Lepards etc

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

George - I would hardly call an Easton aluminium cat an oddball, there are plenty of these boats sailing the oceans of the world, add in the other prolific aluminium cat designers around here like Peter Kerr and Tim Mumby and you have a fairly good basis for assessment. Of course the Eastons are one off fit outs, but Owen himself built many of the hull and decks. Iam not sure about the mast, the photo from the top of it looks odd, but side on looks okay. I would be more concerned by the rudders, they look a little small.

My folks actually live in Vero, so I'll be staying with them while I bring Ono Kai up to snuff.

This is a very special boat, according to a previous owner of hull #3 , and professional boat surveyor, who has seen Ono Kai and has agreed to survey her for me.

On a different note, the owner of Malihini is VERY motivated. He is currently down to $55k and would probably take less. For those that don't mind coming to Hawaii to get her!
35' Shuttleworth Catamaran
That 35 cat is awesome. I have been keeping and eye on it. If I was single I would be very interested.

That boat would be so sold if it was closer to the rest of the US.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

If I was in the US and liked it I would just sail it back. Thats what it was made for.

Here is a better add with more pics. Its surprisingly spacious thanks to Shuttleworths flared hulls.

35' Shuttleworth Catamaran For Sale - Malihini, Hanalei Bay, Kauai, Hawaii

Here is an article on the boat including a trip report sailing to and from the mainland. Even has polars.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

No doubt a nice boat, but a 24' beam on 35'. A guy walking his dog stopped in my driveway the other day and told me my boat was too wide. It's 19'8" on 34'.

Was interested to read about their high tech 500 pound hulls. My low tech cruising hulls weight about 800 lbs and cost under $3000 each to build.

Not trying to start anything but Sorta an odd dig at the shuttleworth, boatguy30 , to beamy because a guy walking his dog said your boat was to wide, I guess you live in a naval architect retirement community and his "high tech" hulls were built in his backyard and weigh more than 50% less than yours, not to bad.

I think you missed my point. This guy spent what 100K++++ to build a boat no one wants to buy???

Oh, and that hull weight includes all bulkheads

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

Oh ya, Eric Sponberg lives just down the road. A guy that worked for Gold Coast yachts building charter cats lives around the corner...... John Marples used to live just across the ICW from here. so you never know.

No one that factors in dockage and haul outs want a 35' cat 24' wide.

I think he's having a hard time selling because of location and the open bridge deck. If it isn't obvious from my avatar I own a Tek35 and had it for sale. I've have had 8 real offers for more than the $75k he was asking, everyone of them mentioning the Shuttleworth in Hawaii. At $55k I bet it'll be gone this month.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

It would be a good boat to sail to Australia and sell. I'm not current on the market in Oz but a few years ago this type of cat would bring over 100K

If I didn't just sail a boat from the USA to AU last year I would do it. Dont you hate it when work gets in the way of sailing?
