Looked at her this weekend. Appears to be in decent shape for an almost 40 year old cat, though I’m sure there are some small jobs and some cosmetic up grades to be done if one desires. Lots of new equipment.

I believe this boat was built by Orren Byrd. I would buy a 40 year old boat built by him if the boat was properly maintained.

Yes it was. We had a contract on her almost 20 years ago but passed on her for various reasons back then.

1987 Outremer 43 $55,000

It's got lots of newer stuff like mast, rigging, sails, engines, saildrives and props. It is still a little rough but might be a contender. There was a similar boat that had a hard life, I wonder if it was this one.
$55,000 in Massachusetts, US.

She is rough and I nearly spilt my coffee when I saw the hacked into bulkhead. Not the prettist cabin add on too. Shame as they are a cool old boat

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

That poor Outremer with the hideous cabin is the same boat as in this video:

Advertised in 2019 for $89k with new rigging sails and engines but original rooftop all rotten plywood etc. Obviously asking price was way too high and probably even free she would have been too expensive to restore and refit.

Does anybody know the history of this boat? I may be in the neighborhood next month and would like to see its condition .

What a beautiful boat... 3 years ago. I await the the more recent photos with interest. I can already imagine, being a former Privilege owner, what the woodwork will look like today.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects

I love this thread. I couldnt even afford to refit one of the cheapest smallest cats but wow. When i started dreaming of cruising 40 years ago a low end 25 or 30 cat seems like it cost half a million and these projects and cheap cats didnt exist. 40' cats? That's basically sailing a house.
Can anyone loan me 300k for a decade or so i promise ill give it back when i sell the boat

I'll loan you my boat for 10 months if you spend $300,000 on it!
