Indeed... but you remembered the key bits! That Wildcat was a bag of spanners (well, one hull anyway) and my hat goes off to Pat and Ally for getting it around the world. The fact they had it surveyed professionally and it STILL had major issues goes to show with boats, anything can happen....

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
I actually looked at one on FL east coast. This after reading for years on CF. Including Pat and Ally's story. Yep. Lots of balsa core problems......and others.
I learn a lot by reading other peoples experiences.
And CF is so good to all.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Probably the nicest lines of any trimaran i have seen but too big and too much work for me. She looks like she is sitting low on the water and yet lightly loaded at this point. Were extra layers of glass put on? Were her scantlings up sized? Dunno

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Here's a 40' aluminum cat in Texas for $35,000. It's "interesting". Actually I remember it being for sale recently.

The aluminum costs more than that.

Re: Cheap Multis and Projects
Deck house is easy to redesign.
Of i sell mine ..i would buy it sight unseen.
Even 100 miles from ocean.
I would cut to tansport.

To me it looks imminently practical...... not pretty, but the vertical windows are a huge asset. Most cats are greenhouses that soak up heat with their sloped windows, and don't give good view. This one may be square and ugly, but you can see where you are going and aren't living in a solar oven. There's a reason commercial fishing boats have the kind of windows they have.
Here's an interesting catamaran built in the 70's with a similar deckhouse... Obviously a motor sailor.... an coastal live aboard sort of boat
