Catbalu

My old friend just bought a catamaran named Catbalu. She came from the BVI's to Brookyln a few years back and has just been sitting there ever since. We're starting to get her back in shape.
I'll post some pics this weekend.

We took the boat out for a sail today. We motored out at about 7 knots. Put up the jib and the main to the first reef. There was only about 7 or 8 knots of wind and we were cruising at about 5 knots.

We've been working hard on the boat all summer and finally took a few shake down cruises last week. We are trying to provision the boat and head down the coast to Florida this weekend. Here is a link to some more pictures on my picasa page....

We're sailing out this weekend. As soon as we get all of our provisions. Heading from Gateway to Sandy Hook then Cape May. Then out and around NC.....

Have a great trip, jeffe. Watch the weather and sail safe. Let us know when you get there!

jeffe,

I spent a fair amount of time on Catbalu in 1999 and 2000 i Tortola. She was captained and crewed by two of our friends. We did the Dark and Stormy weekend fun race to Anagada in her. She could move real well in the right conditions. I know she was a handful docking in the wind with that central diesel mount. Had a beautiful table in the salon and quite a history. I have a very personal connection to Catbalu and am overjoyed to find her in good hands.

Thanks for the info Quilombo, share some more stories and pics if you have any.

We still haven't departed NY yet. We lost some crew members on short notice. So we have decided to spend some more time preparing the boat and getting another crew together. Things are shaping up for us to leave after the holiday weekend.
