Catalina 25 question

I am looking at purchasing a Catalina 25. I was wondering if anyone had installed stern seats (observation seats) on this boat? I know you can on the larger Catalinas but I am not sure about the older 25's. We chartered a larger Catalina this summer and my girls loved sitting there. I hope to keep them interested in sailing with dad so would like to make this addition if possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Catalina 25 question

Aloha and welcome,
I haven't seen it done on a 25 but any boat with a pushpit (stern pulpit) can have the stern seats added. Go down and look at the 25 to see if there is enough space to still steer the boat and handle lines plus two stern seats to see if it is possible. Depending on how big your girls are you might consider the weight distribution too. If there is an outboard on the stern and then the added weight of 2 100 pounders it may make the stern of a 25 squat while they are seated there.
I like your attitude about trying to make a boat desirable for the kids to keep their interest.
Kind regards,

Re: Catalina 25 question

Google sternperch sailboat seats.
They do list Catalina 25's, but you will have to add a rail kit into your costs.

Thanks! Great. Anyone have any other thoughts on the boat?

You do know that a Catalina 25 is a monohull? Any reason this thread is in the multihull forum?
