Question Cat with lots of headroom?

What are some catamarans with a lot of headroom? We're planning a charter with some tall friends (6'6") and wondering what cat to look for.

Dependant on the area the Lagoon and Fountain Pajot cats should suite you down to the ground.

Lagoon 440 and 450 are >6ft6" The Helia is 6'5" The Leopard 44 and 48 are 6'5" - just google the models with the word headroom.

Re: Cat with lots of headroom?

i am 6 feet 5 inch and lagoon 38 is too small. Lagoon 400 is good enough. Any longer in lagoon should be okay as well.

Catana 43 too small Catana 47 kind of okay.

Soubise 49 too small.

FP need 1 size larger than Lagoon to fit.

If you want a cat that can sail, which means the older ones. Leopards have the head room. My husband is 6'4" and he has plenty of room.

if your aim is best performance for the money Lagoon seem to fit the best. I can attest Lagoon is an excellent sailing boat.

Re: Cat with lots of headroom?

I wouldn't get too excited about performance if you are going to charter a cat for a week or two, it seems the OP wants 6'6" head room - not 6'5 or 6'4. Leopards, FPs and Lagoons all perform pretty much the same in the hands of charters, the Lagoons however have the highest head room for most charter fleets barring maybe the Royal Cape cats in USVI and the bigger Voyage 50 (7ft) in BVI,

Re: Cat with lots of headroom?

I’ve chartered most of the above - add Nautitech. I’m 6’3 and boys are taller. Most if not all of the standard charter cats bulkheads into heads and cabins are around 6 feet. Some have lower than advertised up by the front of the salon. Our solution was to buy a few swim noodles, slice down the middle, open and tape above door openings during the day. Down at night if door is to be closed. That helped a lot! Carbon fiber and some e-glass boats can engineer taller bulk head opening without losing structural rigidity, but these boats are hard to find in charter. Last suggestion - try to remember to remove baseball hats upon entry to salon. Almost got knocked out in an Outremer at boat show">Miami boat show.
Cheers.
