Cat sailing

It depends.

Would you like to sail without heeling, or do you enjoy being in that "slot"?

Would you enjoy a shallow draft that allows you to sail into spots that prevent deeper draft boats?

If you could sail faster on the same waterline, would that appeal to you?

Would you give up some pointing ability for any/all of the above?

Does spaciousness appeal to you?

Those are the differences in a nutshell, other than price. But you asked about sailing, not buying, so that's not an issue.

Hope this helps.

Don't forget response. I sailed small monos, then switched to Hobies. A cat, with higher speed, also has higher sensitivity to changes. When you make a small change, whether with sails, sail shape, traveller location, direction, weight distribution, or whatever, the result, whether good or bad, is more pronounced. This allows you to learn at a faster rate.

This is less obvious in the cruising cats, but still there.
