Cat ID

I can't quite tell, but the logo seems familiar. Can somebody identify this cat for me?

Thanks!

Re: Cat ID

My best guess is it's an older (early 200x) Nautitech 40.

Re: Cat ID

Maybe a Nautitech 40 before the "Open" series.

Re: Cat ID

Yep; I believe you both have it right. I just knew that Logo seemed familiar, and the N40 came to mind, but I only looked at the new Open 40, which is not the same at all.

Thanks!

Thanks; I appreciate the offer, but I doubt we’ll ever see a 110V version here in the US for sale. In our “last cat” search I included a used 441 or 442, but most are charter and 220V which won’t work for us.

I’m sure they sail fairl well; I’ve always liked them.

Regards,

Re: Cat ID

I havent sailed an N40 but did do a test for Multihull World on a N44. It was a pleasant boat, nicely finished and sailing performance was okay. but not stellar, all in all a reasonably nice thing. But the stowage of the anchor chain was really silly (right in the bow of the boat)

Ugh. Sounds like terrible last minute planning.

Lee see above - its late at night here, a few typos snuck in. I meant top say the performance Wasn't pedestrian - changed it as soon as I re read it. BUT yes I meant that the anchor stowage was very silly.

Hehehehe! That certainly makes a difference! ;-)

Yep, I've seen them down island while chartering a few years ago, and they scoot right along. The anchor issue comes up a lot on boats with a sprit (as you well know). Our Corsair 36 sprit was about 7' out from the nose, so the only issues we had came from trying to drape the bridle from one ama to the other. I finally gave up and would wait till I dropped the hook and then work it around everything to the other hull.

With several cats I've looked at, all having shorter sprits, there can be a real space issue with the anchor and sprit gear. I can see why Nautitech tried to put the anchor channel beside the port hull deck, but you're right - it doesn't work, and that would completely turn me off from the boat.
