They would NOT have sank if they had diesels, were a mono, or had their reef detector and self righting devises turned on..... and had backing plate mounted cleats and a keel that wouldn't fall off.....AND were not in the Gulf of Aden.

Re: Cat Hits Reef and Sinks.

I bet the reef singled them out because it was a Cat.

You should know this by now as you spent enough time on CF.

I am neutral on the Cat vs. Mono issue, but I do enjoy good humor from either side.

Sorry Steady ole lad.....

If you neuter your cat you won't have these types of problems.

Re: Cat Hits Reef and Sinks.

I'm confused. I thought that all the balsa wood in the hulls of the new monos was to be sure they could float the several tons of lead they have to pack into their bilges so that their drinks don't fall off the table.

I'm really missing the joke in this thread

What is funny about this elderly couples loss?
He's in hospital injured and she has cancer.

What's so funny

Re: Cat Hits Reef and Sinks.

Beats me, I know this has to be a serious setback for the couple, though it seems they are pretty plucky it would be a shame if this knocks them out of the cruising world. I hope they recover quickly and get back to sailing again.

You confuse things; nobody is making any jokes about them and your post doesn't change that...

The jokes are about flipping and sinking cats. I have a hard time seeing the joke too, because in the pictures I see a cat in a rather typical trim. Nothing is sinking afaik. Besides, cats hitting rocks and reefs is also a rather typical occurrence
