Re: Cat-Building Contract

OK. I am cleared to reveal that the cat in question is indeed an Alpha 42. Woo-woo.

Re: Cat-Building Contract

OK, Great. Very nice design.
How long will it take to build you one?
Are you going with keels or dagger boards?

It is scheduled to be ready next October, but we've been told that mid-summer is a real possiblity. Now we just have to sell Platypuss (ss cuz it is a cat) and life will be jes fahn.

Re: Cat-Building Contract

All this worry and build up for the Alpha 42? There is a thread on it where you could have directed your questions. Gregor Tarjan and Aeroyacht are pretty well known.

Re: Cat-Building Contract

cruisingkrol,

I am with you on keels. It a costly option for the daggerboards.
The difference in draft is only 8 inches.

Sorry if I've offended you, jostalli. I have, of course, read that thread. I just didn't want biased info, hence this thread.

Hey, we're still buying Hull#2. The fact that Gregor Tarjan is involved is one of the major reasons we're willing to take the risk that this will indeed be a great super-safe sailing cat. Also Marc Anasis is a very experienced builder and a great guy. The building company however is not Aeroyacht itself; nor is it Alpha 1 Composites tho' that is, I believe, the liable company. And, we were pretty naive about the boat-building business when I started this thread on the contract.

I do have experience with the equine market and I know for sure that a famous trainer or rider with a great website is no guarantee of a sound horse. Hence the caution.

All you posters have truly helped us.

Re: Cat-Building Contract

Why would you think you offended me? I am, however confused by your statement,

"The building company however is not Aeroyacht itself; nor is it Alpha 1 Composites tho' that is, I believe, the liable company."

Aeroyacht is the distributor of the Alpha 42 and Alpha 1 Composites in New York is the builder. So, are you saying you are having someone else build the Alpha 42?

No. It's a business technicality and business technicalities are what scare me a bit, hence this thread. The actual builder is indeed Marc Anasis of Alpha 1 Composites, but DBA Alpha Yachts. Everything is up front.

It sounded like you were shaking a finger at me because I didn't use the Alpha 42 thread for my question.

It's not Phil, Sid. The Nautitech is indeed a beauty; had a great sail on the 441 a couple of weeks ago. Sorry, love it, but the price is out of our range and a moving target, which I hate. Alpha is priced in $US and no import duty; right size; Gregor Tarjan and Marc Anasis... ???

Cheers.
