That's actually a fairly nasty stretch of coast with sheer cliffs and no protected
anchorages for about 100nm. They are caller the Zuytdorp Cliffs and are the grave sites of a number of east indiamen.
In the
winter time they are subject to large swell from the Great Southern Ocean and a backwash from the cliffs can generate quiet nasty seas well out to sea.
In addition the prevailing winds tend to south westerly for much of the year and the
winter weather is typically a series of SWly fronts passing through about once per week.
