camber spar

I just purchased an Endeavour 36 and have no Idea how to install new jib and
Camber spar. I was hoping some one could steer me to a video on how to install and operate it.

Try Dave Bierig at:

Camberspar was his invention.

Re: camber spar

Camber spars are standard on Freedom on all Freedom Sailboats. The spar should have a block on the front. This rides on the forestay. The spar goes in a pocket in the sail and the back goes though the grommets to hold the sail under tension at all points of sail. If you need more info let me know.

Re: camber spar

Still there?
There appear to be two light lines dropping from the front of my mast.
It appears they attach to the jib or the spar itself.
Can anyone tell me which and why? Are they supposed to help the spar pivot to starboard or port tack?

Those might be lazy jacks. Are there grommets in the foot of the sail for those lines to pass through?

No. No grommets. There is a web loop sewn on the foot of the sail.
The boat is an Endeavourcat 36.
The camber spar is is positioned a couple of feet above the foot of the jib, making it a loose-footed jib.
I'm thinking the two lines need to be tied to the web strap, one on either side of the sail, and then adjusted so that, as the sail/camber spar swings out to port or starboard, the lines help support the foot of the jib.
Why they'd be needed I don't know, unless the camber spar causes the foot of the jib to behave differently than every other loose-footed jib in the world. Hope to experiment tomorrow.
